Our air b&b was one door away from the restaurant. We attempted to go Friday night but they were closed for a private event. Booked a reservation for 8pm Saturday night. Arrived and were greeted by a gentleman who I think was the owner.
We were quickly seated and the owner brought over a chair and chatted with us. It was really nice. He then looked at us with no menus and asked what we wanted to eat. Shocked, we inquired what’s in the menu. He then said he would make us what we wanted. So we took his recommendations and did bruschetta and carbonara. It was the nicest ordering experience I’d ever had. Felt like he curated the menu just for us.
Food was amazing - fresh and well prepared. All served family style.
I loved the experience so much! There was no music and the ambiance is rustic wine cellar like.
I’d highly recommend but I don’t look at the photos and expect that to be available. I think he decides what to cook each day.
Highly, highly recommended!
A truly authentic experience!
Our waiter (Lorenzo) introduced himself , started some small talk and gave great recommendations!
We didn't even need a menu!
The food was divine, and came in large portions.
After the main course our waiter asked us if we wanted some dessert, but we were too full to have any. So he brought us a tiny bowl with some sweet cream and two spoons!
Would absolutely recommend going there! 10/10
Good quality food from the region. Warm, welcoming environment. Something to be aware of: the chef reels off the options to you, and you are not shown a menu. This felt a little risky at the time. However, we were both very well fed (as relatively greedy people, too). The bill came to something like 30 EUROS each, which was good value considering the quality and the amount we had. I'd recommend
Place is absolutely amazing!
The owner is the sweetest person ever! Food is beyond expectations
A very very traditional restaurant with an eclectic menu. The owner serves up some of the more obscure but nonetheless excellent dishes that the region is famous for. Make sure you book in advance and that you have an appetite for the unusual. If you want a classic ragu alla bolognese, there is no guarantee that it will be on the menu the day you go. If however you are looking for an authentic, old school osteria with a great atmosphere and exciting food, this is the place.
My only gripe was that last time I went, there was a huge group booked and I feel that the food we were served was not up to the exceptional standard I am used to here. Even so, this is one of Bologna's hidden gems and I could not recommend it more highly!
Our first Osteria experience and it was truly great one. Owner and young chief personally introduced food and it’s history. Meat platter was very generous (our favorite was spicy broccoli crostini, beef carpaccio). Ragu was delicious as well. Don’t skip a desert - their very simple mascarpone with cacao was phenomenal!
This was the best meal experience of my 3 week road trip in italy.
We got there about an hour before close, no reservation. We were the last people seated.
The restaurant is in a wonderful setting a brick cellar, we were the only non italians.
Menu is written on a small chalkboard, about 7 options, 2 were vegetarian. Were not sure what to have, so the chef came over sat next to us and basically told us what we were going to eat.
Drank 2 bottles of wine, several bottles of water three pastas and a platter of bruscetta for exactly 100 euro.
Was the best ragu I had the entire trip. 100% would recommend.
We were turned away the first attempt at walking in because we didn't have a reservation. Decided to make a resy for the next night and so happy we did. The food was amazing. It was a very limited menu and the plates were shareable. The only problem was that we ordered another dish that somehow the waiter either forgot to put in or didn't understand in our communications.
